- Covid protocol updates: Our close contact tracing is changing slightly to group contact tracing which means everyone in a classroom where a Covid positive case is reported will get a notice of exposure. This will prompt everyone in that classroom to test within 3 to 5 days of that exposure and to be on higher symptoms alert. To support this shift, our District is taking active measures to make testing significantly more convenient and accessible. Three (3) new testing locations should be up and running by this Tuesday and by February 7th, weekly testing at every school site should be set up as well. While group contact tracing casts a wider net over who may have been exposed, and therefore increases the need to test more people, testing will be made easier and more routine throughout our District very soon. We feel this will capture those asymptomatic folks sooner and reduce exposures for everyone else. You can expect to receive District updates on this and I will also keep you posted as testing on our own school site becomes available within the next 2 weeks.
We had 22 positive cases reported to us over the past 2 weeks and lots of close contacts. We are hopeful that we will see this number trickle down soon.

en español: 1) Actualizaciones de protocolos contra Covid. Nuestro proceso de identificar y notificar a los contactos cercanos está cambiando. Empezando el lunes, todos los estudiantes en un salón de clases donde se haya reportado un caso positivo de Covid recibirán un aviso de exposición de grupo. Esto hará que todos en ese salón de clases se hagan la prueba dentro de 3 a 5 días y que estén en alerta más alta de síntomas. Para apoyar este cambio, nuestro Distrito está tomando medidas para hacer que el hacerse la prueba sea mucho más conveniente. Primeramente, habrá tres (3) nuevos locales donde se pude tomar la prueba empezando este martes. Adicionalmente, habrá un proceso de tomar pruebas para todos en cada escuela muy pronto. Cierto que el rastreo de contactos de grupo arroja una red más amplia y por lo tanto, aumenta la necesidad de evaluar a más personas, pero las pruebas serán más fáciles y rutinarias en todo nuestro Distrito dentro de las próximas 2 semanas. Recibirá actualizaciones del Distrito sobre esto muy pronto y por supuesto, yo los mantendré informados también.
