Mientras se preparan para que comience el nuevo año escolar, el día 31 de agosto, aquí hay 5 puntos importantes para terminar o marcar en su calendario:

1) Verificación de domicilio: todos los estudiantes que regresaran a la escuela y asistieron aquí año pasado, tendrán que completar el proceso de verificación.  Consulte las publicaciones en este blog, fechadas el 11 de agosto para obtener más detalles. Estudiantes nuevos a Valley Vista no tienen que verificar su domicilio.

2) Encuestas de dispositivos (computadoras) y conectividad: Hay dos encuestas, una para alumnos de 1⁰ a 6⁰ grado y otra para todos los alumnos entrando a Kinder este año. Consulte la publicación en este blog con fecha del 12 de agosto para obtener más detalles.

3) Reunión informativa para padres nuevos: jueves 20 de agosto a las 8:30 a.m. o 5 p.m.

4) Bienvenidos a los desfiles de vehículos para recoger materiales escolares y para saludar a sus nuevos maestros: ~) Kinder Fri. 28 de agosto a las 10 AM    ~) 1 ° a 6 ° grado: todos el primer día de clases, lunes 31 de agosto – según las horas asignadas por grado:   6^{to grado} a las 9 am,  5^{to grado} a las 9:30 am,  4^{to grado} a las 11    3^ro a las 11:30 am      2^do a la 1 pm y       1^ro a la 1:30 pm

Hello Valley Vista Families! I am sending out two very important surveys today. We are planning to distribute devices to families that will need them before the new school year begins.

***The link for Kinder was coming up for 1st-6th 😦 It’s been changed! So please if you are bringing us a Kindergartener, try the Kinder survey link again. Sorry about that.

The first survey is for 1^st through 6^th grade students only. If your child already has one of our “loaner” laptops or if your child has their own device at home, or of your child will be in Kindergarten for this new school year –  there is no need for you to respond to this survey.

Hello Folks, Please read the attached detailed letter on residency verification and download the form(s) you will need to get this mandatory procedure completed. I remind you that this procedure must be completed prior to your child being placed on a class roster for the new school year that begins on August 31^st. This is only for returning students, not new ones this year. Not for our new kindergarten students.

I have two important items to share: the Parent-Student Handbook and the Residency Verification process that must be completed before school begins.

The Parent-Student Handbook has been updated and linked here for you take a look. Please note that while the Important Dates section gives you an idea of what’s to come throughout the school-year, due the COVID-19, everything is subject to change and several sections do not apply until we return to in-person school. As the individual important events draw near, you can expect posts that will alert you and give you specific details.

Our District’s Residency Verification process will begin this coming week. This is not required of new students, including our new Kindergarteners that registered from February 19th of this year to today. For everyone else though, for all returning students, parents will have to fill out the appropriate attached form and provide us with a photocopy or picture of one of the approved documents as listed on the form. The documents must be dated no later than July 1^st, and the form must be signed by the parent whose name appears on the document. I will send a follow-up mid-week message with details on how to get the forms to us either electronically or via a “drop-off” procedure. Please review the attached forms so you can begin acquiring the necessary documents.

How to begin a new school-year as our country struggles to control an unprecedented pandemic? For the first time ever, we will begin this school year in a Distance Learning format, meaning that teachers and students will be in different locations while learning. I want to reassure you that we are still a school, your school. And that we are determined to create and deliver learning experiences for all our students that will support and expand their knowledge, skills, and high-order thinking. Now more than ever, we need to be connected and in communication with one another.

Our lines of communication are open and varied. Find us at the District website: cvesd.org under the Schools tab. You can always visit this, our School Blog at ValleyVistaVikingNews.wordpress.com . You can expect weekly messages from me via School Messenger which accesses the phone and email we have on file for you. We also have a school-wide Class Dojo landing site that you can check into once you have signed up to Class Dojo with your child’s homeroom teacher.

You should know, M E T A S represents Valley Vista’s focus on providing a Multicultural Education through Arts and Sciences to every student. In addition, the word METAS in Spanish means GOALS in English. We value and practice setting goals with both students and adults as a means to promote a Growth Mindset and build Self Efficacy. We see learning as a journey that takes teamwork, planning, vision, grit, and shared leadership. For this year 2020-21, our District’s theme is GREATNESS and we aim for nothing less at Valley Vista.

¿Cómo comenzar un nuevo año escolar mientras nuestro país lucha por controlar una pandemia sin precedentes? Por primera vez, comenzaremos este año escolar en un formato de aprendizaje a distancia, lo que significa que los maestros y los estudiantes estarán en diferentes lugares mientras aprenden. Quiero asegurarles que seguimos siendo una escuela, su escuela. Y que estamos decididos a crear y ofrecer experiencias de aprendizaje para todos nuestros estudiantes que respaldarán y ampliarán sus conocimientos, habilidades y pensamiento de alto nivel. Ahora más que nunca, necesitamos estar conectados y en comunicación.
