End-of-year assessments for all students are well underway. Most grades will be working on Math this week and finishing up Literacy assessments. We appreciate your continued support and encouragement as we move into the 2^nd of a 3-week assessment window.

We will be asking for you to drop off any school-issued devices right after school ends on the 15^th so that we may updated and prepare the laptops for the new school year. However, if by chance you have a school-issued device at home that is not currently being used by your child, we welcome their return as early as possible since we anticipate a flood of them coming in on that June week of the 15^th.

Finalmente, al terminar las clases el día 15 de junio, les pediremos que pasen a la escuela a dejar las computadoras portátiles proporcionadas por nosotros para que podamos actualizar y preparar las para el nuevo año escolar. Sin embargo, si por casualidad tienen un dispositivo proporcionado por la escuela en casa que sus hijos ya no están usándo, pueden empezar a dejarlos lo antes posible ya que anticipamos una gran cantidad de tráfico al final del año y toda la semana del 15 de junio.

1) Wednesday is our District Wellness Day! This Wednesday, May 19th at 3 pm you can join this virtual event! During this time, participants will be a part of a fun fitness workout focused on TEAMWORK! 2) Last Wednesday, I sent out a message and a letter informing you about end-of-year assessments for all students. The window for these assessments begins this Monday 5/17 and closes Thursday 6/3. Please look for information from your children’s teachers on when your child will be taking which assessments. We appreciate your support and encouragement during these activities.

3) And lastly, PLEASE NOTE that the last day of school for this schoolyear, Tuesday, June 15^th will be a distance learning day, meaning no in-person instruction takes place on this date. The schedule for this day will mirror our Friday minimum-day instructional schedule.

1) Este miércoles, 19 de mayo es Día del Bienestar para nuestro Distrito. Ustedes están invitados a participar a este evento virtual a las 3 pm. 2) El miércoles pasado, les envié un mensaje con una carta informándoles sobre las evaluaciones de fin de año para todos los estudiantes. La temporada para estas evaluaciones comienza este lunes 17 de mayo y termina el jueves 3 de junio. Este al tanto para recibir información de parte de los maestros de sus hijos sobre los detalles. Agradecemos mucho su apoyo durante estas actividades.

3) Tenga en cuenta que el último día de clases de este año escolar, el martes 15 de junio, será un día de aprendizaje a distancia, lo que significa que no habrá instrucción en persona en esta fecha. El horario para este día reflejará nuestro horario de instrucción de día mínimo de los viernes.

America is made up of people from all around the world and because of that, many of us have direct or mixed ancestry lines to many different places. This month is designated Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage month. Dedicating the month of May each year to recognize the history, accomplishments, and contributions of our Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities began about 45 years ago in the US. We honor and celebrate by learning more about these vibrant and diverse cultures and recognizing how this diversity enriches our nation and our lives.

This weekend, we honor our MOTHERS. To all our mothers, grandmothers, aunties, godmothers, guardians, and dads that are both mom & dad to their children, Have a wonderful Mother’s Day! We thank you for your dedication, love and support, every day.

En español: este fin de semana también honramos a nuestras MADRES. A todas las madres, abuelas, tías, madrinas, tutores e incluso a ustedes papás que tienen que llenar ese papel por cualquier razón, ¡Les deseamos un maravilloso Día de las Madres!

América está formada de personas de origen y linajes de ascendencia, directa o mixta de muchos lugares diferentes de todo el mundo. Este mes de mayo dedicamos tiempo para reconocer la historia, los logros y las contribuciones de nuestras comunidades asiático-americanas, nativas de Hawái y de las islas del Pacífico. Honramos y celebramos estas comunidades aprendiendo más sobre estas culturas vibrantes y diversas y reconociendo cómo esta diversidad enriquece nuestra nación y nuestras vidas.

This week we join schools across the country in celebrating and appreciating all that Teachers and Support Staff do for students, their families and their learning communities.

I am including a flyer prepared by our PTO, also posted on Dojo. This flyer describes ways to show our appreciation to our wonderful Valley Vista staff each day this week. These are simple, free and fun things we can do to let our staff know that we love them.

Monday – Motivate them with encouraging words or quotes, Tuesday – Make them laugh with jokes, Wednesday – Tell them why they are so special via an email or class dojo, Thursday – Share a sweet memory with them, and Friday – send a Thank You e-card to them.

Here at school, we will also be showering them with treats, tokens and thoughtful displays of appreciation that will include lunches, treat bags, and small gifts. Join us in saying, “Thank You for all that you do for all of us!”

En español: Esta semana nos unimos con escuelas a través del país para celebrar y apreciar todo lo que los maestros y el personal que los apoya hacen y han hecho por nuestros estudiantes, sus familias y nuestra comunidad en general.

Incluyo el volante preparado por nuestro PTO. Contiene formas para mostrar nuestro agradecimiento cada día de esta semana. Estas son sencillas, gratuitas pero sinceras acciones para que nuestro personal sepa cuanto los apreciamos.

Lunes: motívelos con palabras de aliento, martes: hágalos reír con bromas y chistes, miércoles: dígales lo que los hace tan especiales por correo electrónico o class dojo, jueves: comparta un recuerdo bonito con ellos y viernes: envíeles una tarjeta electrónica.

Aquí en la escuela, también los estaremos colmando de golosinas, obsequios y muestras de agradecimiento.
