Hello Valley Vista Families!

I have two important items to share: the Parent-Student Handbook and the Residency Verification process that must be completed before school begins.

The Parent-Student Handbook has been updated and linked here for you take a look. Please note that while the Important Dates section gives you an idea of what’s to come throughout the school-year, due the COVID-19, everything is subject to change and several sections do not apply until we return to in-person school. As the individual important events draw near, you can expect posts that will alert you and give you specific details.

Our District’s Residency Verification process will begin this coming week. This is not required of new students, including our new Kindergarteners that registered from February 19th of this year to today. For everyone else though, for all returning students, parents will have to fill out the appropriate attached form and provide us with a photocopy or picture of one of the approved documents as listed on the form. The documents must be dated no later than July 1st, and the form must be signed by the parent whose name appears on the document. I will send a follow-up mid-week message with details on how to get the forms to us either electronically or via a “drop-off” procedure. Please review the attached forms so you can begin acquiring the necessary documents.

  1. Hi Dr. Emery! Just wanted to let you know, on your message today you said the website was “www.wordpress.valleyvistavikingnews.com” but it’s actually “www.valleyvistavikingnews.wordpress.com” I couldn’t find it with that address you gave out so I tried the other way. Thank you for this! I truly appreciate the communication!!

    1. Yes. I am so sorry. I didn’t notice that until late last night. I will have to send a correction message this week. I am glad you were able to find it anyway. Sorry about the frustration, I bet it took a while. Thanks for letting know though.

  2. Good morning, when should we expect to see a distance learning format and/or curriculum? My Child is starting kinder and we need time to plan ahead.

    Thank you,

    1. Hello Mr. Molina,
There will be several out-reach messages that will begin within the next 2 weeks.
You will be invited to join a virtual meeting on 8/20 either at 8:30 AM or 5 PM. Lots information will shared then.
We are planning a drive-by pick-up parade for Kinder on Friday 8/28 – details to follow.
      I hope this helps.
      Thank you,

  3. Hello Dr. Emery,

My son is starting kinder, is there any supplies that would be provided or that I need to purchase before school starts?

    Thank you

    1. Hello There. Thanks for asking a question that is on the minds of many parents right now. We are currently getting together the “Back-to-School” packet for parents and the basic school materials for students into individual bags. We will be inviting families to a Drive-by, Pick-up Parade to get these items and get a chance to wave at your new teachers towards the end of this month. So, please stay tuned.
